Rules of article registration
Manuscripts are accepted in electronic form as MS Word files.
Use 14-point font size, Times New Roman, regular style, single line spacing, with 2 cm margins.
The manuscript must contain the following elements:
- DOI (assigned by the Editorial Office).
• Article type (research article, review, brief communication, etc.).
• Title of the article.
• Surname and initials of the author(s) in Russian, with transliteration in accordance with the BGN standard (https://transliteration.pro/bgn-pcgn).
• Abstract (200–220 words), briefly reflecting the aim and/or objectives, subject and object of the study, methodology and methods, and research conclusions.
• Keywords / key phrases (6–10).
• For citation section.
• Main text of the article. The total length of the manuscript (including tables, lists of sources and references, figure captions, and abstracts) should be: - for the Articles section: 30,000–40,000 characters (including spaces), with no more than 8–10 illustrations;
- for the Publication of Sources section: 20,000–40,000 characters (including spaces);
- for the New Books, Reviews and Academic Life sections: 15,000–20,000 characters (including spaces).
The length may be increased upon agreement with the Editorial Office. Submitted manuscripts must be stylistically and technically edited. Do not use tabulation or separate paragraphs with blank lines. - Lists of sources and references should be placed after the main text of the article and must include the following subheadings: Published Sources, Literature, and References. In-text citations should refer to the corresponding entries in the lists Published Sources and Literature. Unpublished (archival) materials are not included in the reference list. References to archival documents must be provided as footnotes.
- Entries in the Published Sources list must be arranged alphabetically and numbered using Arabic numerals with paragraph indentation. Citations to these sources in the text should appear in square brackets indicating the item number in the list and page number(s), separated by a comma. Multiple references should be separated by semicolons and listed in ascending numerical order. Example: [1; 2; 4; 8].
- The Literature list must be arranged alphabetically and formatted as follows: surname, initials and/or title (for collective monographs, edited volumes, etc.), place of publication, publisher, year of publication, and extent (total number of pages for books or page range for articles), in the original language of publication. Entries in Cyrillic script (Russian, Bulgarian, etc.) should be listed first, followed by entries in Latin script (English, Turkish, French, etc.). Citations to works in the Literature list should appear in parentheses and include the conventional title of the source and page number(s). The conventional title consists of the author’s surname(s) and year of publication, or the first semantic element of the title and year of publication. Elements should be separated by commas. Example: (Gali, 1948, p. 64). If several works are cited simultaneously, they should be separated by semicolons in the order of mention, not alphabetically. If several publications by the same author from the same year are cited, lowercase Latin letters should be added to the year both in the reference list and in the citations. If a text is cited indirectly rather than from the original source, the citation should begin with the words cited in: followed by the source used. Example: [cited in: (Geraklitov, 1923, pp. 272–273)]. For the Articles section, the Literature list must contain at least 10 sources, including scholarly articles on the relevant topic published within the last 5 years, with the DOI of the article indicated. The number of references for other sections depends on the nature of the material. The References list must fully correspond in content to the Literature list and preserve the same order of entries.
- Information about the author(s) (for co-authored manuscripts): full name, academic degree (if applicable), academic title (if applicable), position, place of work/study, address of the organization, city, country, ORCID ID (if unavailable, please register at https://orcid.org), e-mail addresses of all authors indicating the corresponding author, and additional information at the author’s discretion. Manuscripts submitted by postgraduate students are accepted only in co-authorship with the academic supervisor.
- Acknowledgements and sources of funding (if applicable).
- Conflict of interest statement. Any actual or potential conflict of interest must be disclosed. If there is no conflict of interest, the author should state that no conflict of interest exists.
Structure of the Research Article
The text of a research article must be structured using subheadings. It is recommended to follow the IMRaD format (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion) for manuscripts submitted to the Articles section. More detailed subdivision within sections is permitted.
For the sections Publication of Sources, New Books, Reviews, and Academic Life, a free structure is acceptable; however, these manuscripts must also include an abstract and keywords.
Tables and Figures
All tables and figures must be numbered and provided with titles (table and figure numbering should be separate). Each table and figure must be cited in the text.
Illustrations must be submitted as separate files in TIF or JPG format with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.
