Abstract

The article examines the process of formation and development of the branches of the Temporary Muslim Committee for assistance to soldiers and their families in the Ufa province. This committee was the largest officially authorized organization of Russian Muslims during the World War I. The following pre-revolutionary newspapers in the Tatar language are used for analysis: "Tormish" (Ufa), "Vakyt" (Orenburg), "Koyash" (Kazan). The study of press materials makes it possible to assess the contribution of regional leaders to the development of the Temporary Muslim Committee, to form an idea of the methods of providing charitable assistance to the population of the Ufa province, and the human qualities of prominent Muslim figures who defended the interests of the Fatherland during the war. In particular, the focus of the research is on Salimgirey Dzhantyurin, Ibniyamin Akhtyamov, Gabdulla Ibragimov (Shnasi) and many others. The role of Muslim women in organizing assistance to military personnel is noted.
