Abstract

The article based on the materials of the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan highlights the participation of the Kazan merchants in the charitable activities of the 19th – early 20th centuries. Within the framework of this topic, the activities of both the Tatar and Russian merchants are touched upon. The stimulating motives for charity, including conditioned by religious traditions are considered. The main directions of philanthropic activity of Kazan merchants are shown.
