The article reveals the main stages of the scientific biography of the outstanding Kazan scientist and encyclopedist Evgeny Borisovich Dolgov. Currently, he holds the position of Leading Researcher of the M.Khasanov Institute of Tatar Encyclopedia and Regional Studies of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences. The article presents an analysis of his multifaceted scientific and pedagogical activity. Special attention is paid to research in the field of history and culture of Tatarstan, including the study of settlements, state authorities and administration, as well as socio-political movements in the Volga region and problems of Tatar encyclopedistics. The publication is timed to the 60th anniversary of the scientist.
