Abstract

The article examines the participation of Astrakhan Yurt Tatars in military campaigns waged by the Moscow state against external enemies, as well as examples of the use of Astrakhan murzas and herd heads to carry out various diplomatic assignments in the 17th–18th centuries. The research focuses on the wars with the Crimean Khanate and Turkey, Poland and Sweden, as well as individual military expeditions of the 17th–18th centuries undertaken by the tsarist authorities against the peoples of the North Caucasus and Central Asia. The article analyzes the mobilization potential of the Turkic service population of the Lower Volga region, the peculiarities of its involvement in wars, and its use in various military campaigns. Along with this, the facts of the involvement of the Astrakhan nobility in the performance of various diplomatic missions in relation to the peoples of the North Caucasus and Central Asia are being studied.
