The journal is the successor of the scientific yearbook of the same name, which was published at the Marjani Institute of History of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences from 2011 to 2015.

Thematic coverage corresponds to the approved nomenclature of scientific specialties:

  • 5.6.1. National history (historical sciences)

The journal provides an opportunity for professional communication to a wide range of specialists, being a platform for the presentation of scientific ideas and discussion of debatable points of view in historical science, mainly on the history of the peoples of the Volga and Urals in the Middle Ages, New and Modern times. The journal publishes theoretical and research articles on history, ethnology/ethnography, archeology, folklore, literary criticism, and culture. The subject matter of the journal's publications is not limited either chronologically or regionally. Nevertheless, preference is given to materials on the history of the Volga-Ural region until the middle of the twentieth century.

The main purpose of the journal is to publish original materials based on sources not previously introduced into scientific circulation, prepared taking into account the achievements of modern historiography.

Language of publications: Russian, Tatar, English, Turkish.

Frequency: 4 times a year. Not available for retail sale.

Publication Schedule: March, June, September, December.

Format – 70x100 1/16. Each issue, the volume of which is from 10 to 13 conventional printed sheets, includes illustrations, including color ones.

The journal contains the following main sections (headings):

  • Articles (main section). Includes original scientific articles within the scope of the journal (15,000 – 40,000 printed characters (with spaces)).
  • Publication of the source. Includes the publication of a new document with a preface by the author (15,000 – 40,000 printed characters).
  • New books, reviews. Includes scientific reviews, literature reviews, etc. (15,000 – 40,000 printed characters and 1 illustration).
  • Scientific life. Includes articles on the scientific activities of famous scientists in the humanities in connection with their anniversaries, materials on prominent personalities in the history of the peoples of the Volga and Cis-Urals Regions, obituaries, messages and reports on scientific events, presentations, etc. (no more than 20,000 printed characters).
