The publication presents materials characterizing the scientific activities of the famous scientist, specialist in the history of the Tatars of the New Age, Doctor of Historical Sciences Ildus Kotdusovich Zagidullin. An attempt was made to evaluate his contribution to the study of the historical heritage of the Tatar people, the policy of the Russian state towards Muslims. The author provides information about the most significant pages of the biography and the main scientific achievements of the scientist.
